The crew from just-opened JDub's Brewing Co. (1215 Mango Ave.) will be hosting Cigar City Brewing founder Joey Redner and his team on Wednesday as they brew a collaboration beer in Sarasota, according to JDub's founder Jeremy Joerger.

Here's the cool twist: Joerger decided to make it a public event. So he's opening the brewery's tasting room from noon to 7 p.m. and putting some Cigar City beers on tap alongside JDub's brews.

Customers will be able to watch the JDub's and Cigar City teams work through the large brewery windows and Joerger said they hope to be able to pop over to talk.

"The beer's been extremely well received," Joerger said of JDub's flagship, Up Top! IPA.

A food truck will be on hand to satisfy hungry appetites. Joerger said he's still working out which one will be there.

This is JDub's first collaboration beer brewed in Sarasota. Previously the brewery has teamed up with Three Palms to brew a smoked cherry sour saison in Tampa. They also partnered with Bold City and Green Room to brew Florida Three-Way, a grapefruit India pale ale, at Green Room's Jacksonville brewery.

Wednesday is shaping up to be a great craft beer day in Sarasota. You can go to the JDub's event during the day, then enjoy a Seventh Sun beer dinner in the evening at Darwin's on 4th.
