Two theater companies are seeking short plays for upcoming productions.
Florida Studio Theatre is looking for short plays and sketches that are no longer than 10 minutes in length. Entries may be selected for performances in the theater’s annual New Play Festival in the spring.
Each play should include a title page, contact information, a synopsis, a biography of the playwright and any production history. Each playwright may submit only one script for the festival.
Electronic submissions only should be sent as a PDF file by 6 p.m. Dec. 16 to FSTshorts@floridastudiotheatre.org.
Theatre Odyssey also is seeking new works for its 11th annual Ten-Minute Play Festival, which will be held May 5-8.
Each play must run no less than nine minutes and no more than 11 minutes and should require no more than five actors.
The festival is open to Florida residents who live between Tampa Bay to Naples. The theater company is seeking new and original plays that are not adapted from other work.
Each playwright may submit up to three plays. There is no entry fee for the first submission, but there is a $10 for second submissions and $20 for a third.
