For fans of sweet soul music, "Muscle Shoals" is a must-see documentary. Originally released last year and on screen Friday at the South Florida Museum as part of its “Music and Movies” series, the movie is about the amazing amount of timeless music made in Muscle Shoals, Alabama; especially at Rick Hall's FAME Studios. Former Sarasota resident Gregg Allman, Aretha Franklin, Bono, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Etta James and Alicia Keys are among the artist who testify to the power of the Muscle Shoals sound in the documentary. Local singer-songwriter David Smash will perform before the screening starts.

6 p.m. Friday; South Florida Museum, 201 10th St. W., Bradenton; $5, $3 (member admission); 746-4131; southfloridamuseum.org.
