A singer, songwriter and singular guitarists with gorgeous tone, Jerry Garcia (born Aug. 1, 1942; died Aug. 9, 1995) is most famous for his co-leading role with the Grateful Dead. Songs written or co-written by the hippie hero and jam band god include "Friend of the Devil," "Ripple," "Truckin'" and "Uncle John's Band." Expect these and more Dead classics to be played at Sarasota community radio station WSLR 96.5’s sixth annual Very Merry Jerry Day concert. Michael Miller and the Heart Machine, Koko Ray and the Keepers, Mumbo Jumbo, and sTone Fish are scheduled to perform. There will also be crafts and food for sale.

4 p.m. Sunday; Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat, Sarasota; $10; 894-6469; wslr.org
