If, like us, you're one of the 12 million people who purchased and adore the 1997 album "Buena Vista Social Club," make plans to stop by Fogartyville on Sunday and check out Cuban jazz pianist Gabriel Hernandez, who's making his Sarasota debut.

Hernandez will be accompanied by John Jenkins on drums and Mauricio J Rodriguez on bass. They will be playing music from the Cuban Latin jazz repertoire and American jazz. For the second set, the trio will expand to a quintet with Frankie Piniero (congas) and another special guest.

A student at the Conservatory of Music in Camagüey, Cuba, Hernandez has performed in international jazz festivals sharing the stage over the years with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Tito Puente and Dizzy Gillespie.

7:30 p.m. Sunday; Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court, Sarasota; $12 in advance, $15 day of show; 941-894-6469; wslr.org
