Rev. Billy C. Wirtz is a singer, songwriter and piano-pounding showman with a love of comedy who also happens to be an American musicologist. Ronny Elliott is a singer, songwriter and guitar strummer who has penned some of the most haunting songs to ever emanate from Tampa. Elliott is also a musicologist with a dark sense of humor and together Wirtz and Elliott are a powerfully entertaining team.

The duo can be heard 3-5 p.m. Fridays on WMNF (88.5) and in person Saturday at Fogartyville. The two rock 'n' roll veterans (Elliott once opened for Jimi Hendrix and played bass for Chuck Berry) will trade songs and accompany each other in this benefit for WSLR (96.5). Expect to laugh, perhaps dance, learn something incredible about an ancient blues or hillbilly singer, and don't be surprised if one of Elliott's songs makes you wipe a manly tear from your eye.
