New York-based Americana act Blue Eyed Bettys – singers Daniel Emond on banjo, Sarah Hund on fiddle and Ben Mackel on guitar – formed here while rehearsing a Florida Studio Theatre musical and continue to make Sarasota a second home with various projects and regular shows at FST including one this Friday. Currently, the band is in Sarasota working on a covers album called “The Blue Eyed Bettys Covered Up” and putting the finishing touches on a musical they’re writing in conjunction with The Peppercorn Theatre in Winston Salem, N.C.

“It's called ‘The Tourist Trap,’ and it's about a band of puppets who run The Steppup Family Amusement Park and Automotive Garage,” Lund says. “We're so excited to be writing and starring in ‘The Tourist Trap,’ which received a developmental grant from The Jim Henson Foundation this summer. Wahoo!”

9 p.m. Friday; Florida Studio Theatre's Goldstein Cabaret; 1241 N. Palm Ave., Sarasota; $12-$15; 941-366-9000; floridastudiotheatre.org
