The Barefoot Movement

Bluegrass, one of this country's greatest and oldest musical contributions, continues to flourish thanks to young acts like The Barefoot Movement, a neo-hippie act with jam band credentials from Nashville. Featuring two fresh-faced gals and fellas, the quartet invites attendees to "sit back, relax, take your shoes off, and stay a while. Whether you're seeking emotional ballads or rip-roaring barn-burners, you can expect a collection of music that offers something for everyone." In addition to originals and traditionals, Barefoot Movement has been known to kick their shows up with a cover of Blind Melon's alt-rock anthem "No Rain." Local band Stumble Creek, an acoustic four-piece with Americana influences, opens the show.

8 p.m. Friday; Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center, 525 Kumquat Court, Sarasota; $12 in advance, $15 day of show; 894-6469; wslr.org
