The venerable Florida Winefest and Auction returns this weekend for its 25th year, bringing a host of events at all price points, proceeds going to 25 local disadvantaged children’s charities, bringing the total awarded to $8 million.

The festivities kick off on Thursday evening with a series of winemaker dinners at restaurants and private residences. Laurel Oak Country Club will feature Benevolo, Christopher Creek and Foppoli Wines; Mattison’s Forty One will have Priest Ranch; Roast Restaurant will pour Williamson Wines; among others. Dinner prices range from $125-$175 per person.

There are two events Friday, beginning with the Bayfront Showcase Lunch Tasting, under the elegant Winefest tent adjacent to Van Wezel, for $50. The Banquet on the Block on Friday evening, featuring area chefs and amazing wines outside on Lemon Avenue in downtown Sarasota, is sadly sold out.

The main event – the Grand Tasting, Brunch and Charity Auction – takes place on Saturday morning under the Winefest tent. The brunch will have food from many local restaurants, the tasting will feature wine from more than 50 wineries, and the auction will have luxury lots ranging from wine to vacations. Tickets for this lavish morning are $150.

Want something a little more inexpensive? Try out Sunday’s Wine on the Water from 1-4 p.m. in the Winefest tent. The $25 ticket price will get you six tastes of wine, live music and the oportunity to buy food from vendors.
