Beer: Up Top! IPA

Brewery: JDub's Brewing Co., Sarasota

Notes: The first craft beer packaged in Sarasota, and it's in a can. JDub's hires a mobile canning company to come to the brewery and put Up Top in six-packs; the brewery is running a Kickstarter campaign to crowdfund its own canning line.

Pours a pretty pale amber/gold in my tulip glass with a tight white head. Almost minty aroma of hops.

The flavor begins with a minty/herbal hop flavor that's balanced by biscuity malt notes. JDub's didn't want to make this IPA a bitter bomb, and they deliver: It's very flavorful of hops, but doesn't leave the typical soap-like hop reside in your mouth afterward. It finishes clean. (Not that soap-like is a bad thing, at least for us hopheads.)

The first canned craft beer in town, and it's a winner.
