The Beer Box, the area's first craft beer bar focusing on Florida brews, is moving, according to manager Mick Cohn. The bar will close its doors at 5767 Beneva Road in Sarasota on Saturday and open again in July at 1989 Ringling Blvd. in downtown Sarasota, Cohn says.

The bar is rebranding the existing Evie's Tavern on the ground floor of the Courthouse Centre on Ringling.

The rebranding move is similar to the one that the bar, part of the Evie's family of restaurants, took when it opened about a year ago on Beneva.

"We're also going to have liquor" at the new location near the soon-to-open McCurdy's Comedy Theatre, Cohn wrote in a message, "which gives us great opportunities to work with Siesta Key Rum and some other local liquor distilleries!"

In a Facebook post, the bar wrote that the entire Evie's group is embracing Florida craft beer:

"Keep an eye on the local brews that will be making their way into all the Evies locations and even the White Buffalo!"
