Sarasota brewpub Darwin's on 4th (1525 4th St.) is hosting another beer dinner with a Florida craft brewer.
On Wednesday (April 23) at 7 p.m. the restaurant will put on a dinner featuring beers from Green Bench Brewing Co. (The previous dinners had brews from Florida Beer Co., Seventh Sun and Saint Somewhere.)
Four of the St. Petersburg brewery's beers will be paired with four courses from the Peruvian restaurant, which also brews its own award-winning beers.
I visited Green Bench for the first time a few weeks ago and was really impressed. They specialize in hoppy, barrel-aged and sour beers.
I don't have more details on the menu but hope to get some soon.
The menu:
First course: Beef ceviche -- seared rare sirloin, Panca sauce, lime juice, orange, avocados and red onion. Paired with Skyway Wheat.
Second course: Sopa de esparragos -- creamy peruvian asparagus soup, served cold. Paired with Happy Hermit Pale Ale.
Third course: Chef Darwin's skirt steak -- roasted sweet plantains, chimichurri, beet relish. Paired with Saison de Banc Noir.
Fourth course: "Tumbao" pot of mousse -- bittersweet and white chocolate mousses, dark chocolate "pot," cafe cappuccino, tartufo chocolate, mango and raspberry sauces. Paired with Coffee Pot Bayou Stout.
The meal costs $40 per person; make reservations by calling (941) 343-2165.
The brewpub posts on Facebook that they are also working on a beer dinner with Cigar City:
